| Maintaining
the fact that diversity plays a major role in education, all
faculties at VUB share a common goal – to prepare students
adequately tuned to the professional and social complexities
of the world. The most effective way by which this purpose
is accomplished directly is the increased interaction among
the students and the teachers. Accordingly, the university
bears a clear sight of its mission development of its
faculty, preparing the curricula and instructions and case
studies based on local conditions. In this process, each
program requires to achieve the minimum level of performance
consistent with its overall mission while meeting the
international standards. VUB offers great many opportunities
that can be manipulated for an exceptional outcome.
Upon consideration of the environment that entails globalization,
students in Business, Tourism & Hospitality Management,
and IT streams and other areas must be prepared in such
a way that they can contribute substantially both individually
and collectively throughout their career. The main objective
of the university is to provide assistance to the students
so that they can get prepared to face the prevailing situation
in the most convenient way.
The expectations that we face in the Tourism & Hospitality
Management, Business and IT related fields are enormous.
There is no exception to this in other educational sectors
as well. So the curricula are designed in such a way that
they meet the anticipation of the present generation in
the most proficient manner.
Thus the development of curricula and the way it would
be executed must focus not only the present context but
also in terms of the anticipated needs in the future.
So preparing the curricula, developing the faculty and
improving the intellectual activities are conducted with
proper direction and vision. The University is also concerned
about the students' future careers, critical reasoning
ability, problem solving skills and so on.
One of the basic processes of updating the courses is
the review of the set standard and the running programs
in the light of the changing needs of the time. However,
certain standards or parts of standards might apply differently
in different occasions, depending on different objectives
of the programs.
The review of the implementation process is conducted
by the University’s Self-Evaluation Report and through
a peer review of each program of the University. The student
must represent the global standard set in the review formats.
The recommendation of the peer review team is considered
to be the guideline in the operation of different programs.
Hence, it is the responsibility of the review team to
ensure the reasonableness of the programs and to point
out the inconsistency in regard to various programs and
provide solutions accordingly. |
